Mary Crowe, a Lincoln resident, joined WordsMove Theater in 1998 and took over as director in 2020. She is a professional singer/actor and educator who has performed as a singer throughout the Boston area in classical, jazz, cabaret and music theater. She taught voice performance for 25 years at Indian Hill Music (now Groton Hill ) and directed the Indian Hill Opera and Music Theater Workshop. She has also taught at Powers Music School, Groton School, and Lawrence Academy, and has directed theater workshops at Concord Youth Theater. She is grateful to this wonderful cast for making these performances possible.
Corky Becker
Corky is a clinical psychologist and a couples and family therapist who lives in Lincoln. She studied drama at Brandeis University and is returning to theater after 55 years.
Nancy Bush
Nancy is a singer and actor from Westford, a member of Illumination Opera, and a former member of the Indian Hill Opera and Music Theater Workshop. She has performed multiple roles in opera, musical theater and recital over the past 15 years.
Ben Dubrovsky
Ben has appeared in several MIT Community Players productions as well as in "Communicating Doors" with Vokes Theater in Wayland, MA. He is a user experience designer and lives in Lincoln with his wife Alice Waugh.
Susan Gates
Susan is the founder of Illumination Opera and former executive director of the Chelmsford Center for the Arts. Favorite singing roles include Carmen ("Carmen"), Cherubino ("Marriage of Figaro"), the mother ("Amahl and the Night Visitors"), and the baker's wife ("Into the Woods"). "Surprising Encounters" is her seventh production under the direction of Mary Crowe.
Sally Kindleberger
Sally has been involved with theater since second grade. Favorite roles include Big Eight ("Talking With"), Lizzie ("The Rainmaker"), and Madame Arcati ("Blithe Spirit"). She now works in TV and film as an extra and can be seen as Doris the Secretary in "About Fate." Sally lives in Lincoln.
Alice Waugh
Alice has acted, produced and directed several shows with of the MIT Community Players, where she met her husband Ben Dubrovsky (her favorite roles: Judith Bliss in "Hay Fever" and Lady Bracknell in "The Importance of Being Earnest"). She is the editor of the Lincoln Squirrel, Lincoln's news website.
John Wardle
After a career of teaching astronomy and physics at Brandeis University, John is transitioning to acting and debuted in WordsMove Theater's "Under Milk Wood." He lives in Waltham.
