WordsMove Theater Company was founded in 1998 by British director and actor Annie Thompson to celebrate the power of the spoken word through staged readings, recordings and performances in schools art centers and public libraries throughout the Boston area.
In 2020, Lincoln resident Mary Crowe, a member of the original company, took over as director, and after a hiatus during the pandemic, the company revived in 2023 with a staged reading of Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas, performed in multiple venues in the MetroWest area.
In the spring of 2024, the group showcased “Love, Loss and What I Wore” by Nora and Delia Ephron, followed in the fall by "Surprising Encounters Between Friends, Lovers and Strangers " — five plays by Peter Manos, David Mamet, Jack Neary, Eric Reimer and Wendy Wasserstein/ Christopher Durang.
Spring 2025 saw WordsMove productions of "Mixed Messages" (five more plays by local author Jack Neary). In December 2025, we're featuring "Holiday Stories You Never Heard," including a story by Dylan Thomas, two Hanukkah plays by Mark Harvey Levine, and a premiere by cast member John Wardle.
WordsMove Theater is grateful for past support from the Lincoln Cultural Council and the Mass Council on the Arts.
